On June 25-26, The Hamburg Institute for Sozialforschung organised an international workshop  on The perpetration of sexual violence in conflict zones. Sources of explanation. Discussions and exchanges from a multidisciplinary point of view allowed to raise several interesting issues, and can help to understand and analyse the cases of sexual violence committed during the war in Chechnya. In the attached document are some notes on rape in Chechnya, inspired by the discussion of the workshop and based on the information given in several Human Rights Reports on the period 2000-2004.
